The curling iron has been popular for years, but recently hot rollers have been making a comeback as well. There used to be a debate about the safety of hot rollers versus curling irons, but the modern versions of both are quite safe as long as you don’t use them incorrectly or at temperatures that are too high for your hair.

Because your hair remains wrapped around hot rollers for a longer period of time while they set and slowly cool down, they are able to curl your hair at a lower temperature, which is gentler to hair. This can be especially helpful to those with fine locks and hair that is already damaged or prone to it.
Bigger curls.
Many women find that they can achieve bigger, bouncier curls and old Hollywood type hairstyles more easily with rollers than with curling irons.

Good for all types of hair.
Rollers are most appropriate for those with medium hair that is not too coarse or thick. Hair that is very short or very long may find it difficult to get all their hair into the rollers. Curling irons come in a variety of sizes to suit many different hair types and lengths.

Curling irons travel easier and take up less space.
They have a greater number of options.
Curling irons come in a wide variety of barrel sizes to suit your hair and hairstyle. Also, if you have a hard time with your curls becoming limp and flat as the day or evening wears on, or if your hair is thick and hot rollers simply don’t give a strong enough curl for you, a curling iron may be a better bet. Be careful with those heat settings though, it’s easy to damage your hair if you curl at a heat that is high.
